Corrections
How to report an error on FindAWindowPro, how we check and correct it, and the dated list of corrections made to our articles.
We try to get every figure and every statement right, and we want to hear when we have not. This page explains how to report an error, what we do with a report, and lists the corrections we have made.
How to report an error
Use our contact page and include:
- the address of the page, or its title;
- the sentence or figure you think is wrong;
- a link to a source that shows the correct information, if you have one.
A link to an official record, such as a federal energy program page, a product rating, building code text or a state licensing board page, helps us check the report quickly.
We cannot help with questions about a specific quote, contract, warranty or installation. Those belong with the window company or manufacturer involved, and questions about a contractor's license belong with your state licensing board.
What happens next
An editor checks the report against the cited source and, where needed, the original record. If the page is wrong, we correct it, update the page's sources and "About these figures" section as needed, and change the page's last updated date. If a figure turns out to be unsupported, we remove it rather than replace it with a guess.
If the page was right, we leave it as it is. We may still clarify wording if the report shows that a sentence was easy to misread.
How corrections are listed
Every correction that changes a fact, a figure or the meaning of a sentence is dated and listed below, with the page it affects and a short description of what changed. Small fixes to spelling, grammar or formatting are made without a listing. Corrections stay on this page; we do not remove them later.
For how we choose and label sources in the first place, see our methodology. For how the site is paid for, see how we make money.
